Casting of chassis and body components 2024
In order to follow the trend of the automotive industry on the part of the foundry machinery industry, the symposium “Casting of chassis and body components” was attended from March 19 – 20, 2024 in Landshut.
In the chassis and body structures of modern automobiles, light metal casting components are increasingly being used to reduce weight and CO2 emissions. The presentations covered a broad spectrum: market outlook for light metal castings in chassis and body-in-white in Europe, performance of die casting in the market environment of transormation, battery housing concepts, use of secondary aluminum for safety components,…. Experience reports from the field also played a role.
The meeting was rounded off with a works visit to BMW, where er were able to take a look at the new TF 5700 from IPG.
